As a non-profit community event, the Midwinter Carnival relies on the support of our partners to make this event possible. We have received ongoing support from a number of funders and businesses who see the many positive community benefits that flow from the Midwinter Carnival event. We congratulate them for their community spirit and encourage you to let them know their support is valued.

If you or someone you know is interested in supporting the work that we do, please contact us to discuss becoming an event partner.

Puaka Matariki

We are proud to be part of the Puaka Matariki Festival programme that runs from 3-26 June. This is a celebration of the Maori New Year and is a time to share stories, pass on knowledge and learning, and plan for the year ahead. The Puaka Matariki programme is packed with a wide range of toi Maori, visual art, literary works, music and dance performance events. The Midwinter Carnival has always acknowledged Matariki and this is often represented in the Procession by working with Maori performers and incorporating relevant giant puppets and giant lanterns.
